Approach
Open the lightweight check-in page and hold the phone near TapTime.
NFC attendance, made tangible
A simple physical checkpoint that turns one phone tap into a trustworthy attendance event—without surveillance, batteries, or kiosk training.
The core idea
Attendance should feel like arriving—not like being watched.
One natural gesture
TapTime uses the familiar NFC gesture already built into modern phones. The web app identifies the employee, confirms the location, and records the event.
Open the lightweight check-in page and hold the phone near TapTime.
The NFC tag opens a signed workplace link. No device battery is needed.
A clear success screen records check-in or check-out and shows the exact time.
Print it this week
A substantial two-piece case encloses the NFC module completely. The 17 mm body feels like a small appliance in the hand, while the removable rear gives access to the tag and mounting hardware.
Interactive prototype
Drag to rotate the assembled case. Scroll or pinch to zoom. This viewer uses the same front and rear geometry as the printable STL files.
MVP path
Validate the behavior before investing in custom hardware. Start with an NFC tag, this enclosure, and a small web flow.
Read the full proposal ↗Print the enclosure and write the pilot URL to the NFC tag.
Enroll 5–10 employees and observe the entry flow.
Track successful taps, corrections, and payroll usefulness.
A passive NFC tap proves that a phone reached the tag. It does not, by itself, prove who held the phone. Production should add authenticated employee accounts, rotating signed links, audit logs, and a dedicated reader where stronger assurance is required.
